The software gets the job done, with a couple exceptions. It is pretty easy to set up and use. Ease of efiling the returns is a plus. The sections on underpayment penalties are quite weak and the planning section is very cumbersome to use for someone who is retired (so I don't bother using it).
Great program! I've used it the last 10 yrs. The only issue was I couldn't import my 1099's from my financial institute. Kept telling my login info wasn't right. Entered manually so no problem.
I purchased two of these, one for us and one for my daughter. First one worked as expected, as they have for years. Second one would not allow the State program access (her state is different from ours). Had to purchase another program and use a different computer to finish her taxes. Seems like this could be improved in the programming.
When I first started dong online tax software, it was Taxcut. I believe it became H&R Block soon after. I have seen continuous improvements, I. e. Download capability of investment documents. Mostly I like the accuracy run through. Just recently I needed to fill in overlooked entries. It is easily the best part, and I have total confidence before submitting my return. I heartily recommend H&R Block software for anyone the considers going it by themselves. And if there is any doubt: there are many local stores that are willing to offer reviews.
For about 20 years the wife and I have depended on H&R Block for the accuracy, ease and speed of doing our taxes. A trust of confidence in support has grown and we feel safe using BLOCK. Thank you.
