Good on Federal Taxes, Not so good on State Taxes

Though I have used H&R Block tax prep software for at least 10 going on 20 years, and it seems to work quite well for the Federal Forms, I am frustrated every year because of its less competent handling of the State Forms. Every year I have to re-learn how to do the Pension Deduction part of the process. This year, I noticed a clear error in Block's instructions in 2 places. The correct information was on the State form itself. It said to include income from IRA's, whereas the Block instructions said NOT to include IRA income. In addition, before coming to this part of the process, Block has collected enough information to fill in the forms itself, but nonetheless, it asks me to fill in specific numbers for me and for my wife that I have to hunt for and calculate. The program has those numbers and could calculate it for me.
Cons: Hard to prepare

The software goes to great length to lead you through every possible way to minimize your tax bill. Electronic submittal options for federal and state returns work really well. Wish it could handle my K-1 forms better, but it does as well as other tax software I have used. I would recommend this product to a friend.
