I have used H&R Block software for four or five years not since TaxAct priced themselves out of my range. This year I had all my info so I went ahead and entered it knowing I would need to wait for the February 9 update before filing because of a form or two not being final. Prior to the update, my refund (which included a Qualified Charitable Donation or QCD) appeared to be correct. After applying the February 9 update, I noticed my federal refund was smaller than before. Investigation revealed that the notation of the QCD had disappeared and my entire distribution was shown as taxable. So just a word to those who take advantage of the QCD deduction - be careful after applying any updates as you may be looking at paying to much in taxes and/or amending later to correct the situation.
i have used HRBlock tax software for many years it has been excellent easy to use, this year it only picked up some of my information from last year, I had to fill in information on forms that it usually picks up, ther than that for me it is the best software ever.
Fairly easy to use: sometimes a little odd trying to find program/data points on the actual forms. BUT....big failing point is having to pay to e file State taxes. That might be new: I didn't remember that from years prior. Pretty lousy to pay for program, and then have to pay more, almost half again, just to complete the electronic filing for state. Always considered this a great product, but having to pay state is a downgrade to good.
When filing my taxes, I finished everything and tried to submit. The program said I needed to do an update before filing my state taxes. I did the update and the program went through the final steps again. As a result, my credit card was charged two times for the state charge. I hope you can remove one of these charges.
