H&R Block Deluxe + State

I bought this about 4 day ago and have completed my federal and state tax return. I found the program easy to work with. I had a few questions going through the process and did not find the help to be much help. However, the chat worked pretty well when chatting with a person and I was able to get my questions pretty well answered. There were a couple of things that I needed to follow up with the Federal or state IRS to resolve. The information related to the e-file process was pretty sketchy I felt, and if you wanted to under stand the process and requirements prior to starting the e-file you had to do some additional research. The online chat helped somewhat but I still needed to do some research on my own.
I am not at all happy with the display options. I am an older individual and my eyesight is a bit tired. I have a large computer monitor so I can expand things to make them easy to read. This program does not seem to allow you to do that. If you expand the view part of the forms and screens get cut off with no scroll bar to get to the hidden part. So I was forced to strain to see very small print and sit inches away from my monitor. This made it very uncomfortable to work with. I think this needs to be fixed. The view should be able to be adjusted for ease of viewing. That could be done without causing problems for how forms print or display for e-filing. I would have given a higher rating if not for this issue.

I’ve used the product for years now moving over from a competitor product about 12 years ago And well satisfied with it, it is easy, concise and accurate

Simple, Affordable and Effective

I've been using this since it was called "Tax Cut" and have always loved it. I'm especially pleased with its ability to import 1099s from my Brokerages. Just completed my Federal plus State -- less then 2 hours from start to submission.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

Good product, be careful with Res Energy Credit

I've been using this product for many years and have always found it very easy and straight forward. I highly recommend it. BUT be warned if you can claim the Residential Energy Credit (form 5695). Uncharacteristically, I found the interview instructions for this one particular form to be problematic and had to redo the questions several times to avoid validation errors.

Cons: Hard to prepare
