Very unhappy

I have been using this for years and has been great but this year (2023 tax year) in the middle of doing my taxes I clicked on help and it said "no internet" and could not load help even though the internet was working fine I tried all the suggestions, disabling firewall, dns settings, etc could not get anything to load so had to complete my taxes without help menus, I had to search on google for answers to my questions. which was more time consuming and inconvenient, I paid good money for this to guide me through complex taxes and did not get what I paid for. I am very disappointed.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

EV credit forms not available

Long time customer but 2023 was not a good year for the software. EV Tax forms not ready until 3/22/24
Cons: Time consuming

Federal is great, But state you get a poor.

I did not have any problems with the Federal taxes return's but when I tried to send the Pa. tax return I could not because there were things missing. This was after I got the OK that all was OK to send on the computer. Now I have to mail it in instead of usuing the computer.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Sure beats the old paperwork, but ....

I used to use TurboTax but got away from it because of their bull about it being free. H&R costs too, but they are honest about it. The down side of H&R is that their "instructions/guidance/hand-holding" is much more cryptic. I always struggle to prepare the returns, and don't have a lot of confidence that I've done it right. Two years ago I had to print out and mail in the returns, which took forever, because the software would not let me e-file because there was some small insistent bug I could not resolve. The "warning" check doesn't help much. So I may be going back to TTax next year.
Cons: Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The best but not glitch free

There is no line Line 17z, Schedule 2 on a 1040-SR . . BAD There There is no line 17z on 1040-SR, Schedule 2 . . INSTRUCTION, NEEDS CORRECTION . . Also, gas royalties procedure is cumbersome, not clear . . I've used this program for more than a decade - still the best available . . Exceeds the competition considerably
Pros: Easy to prepare

Worst year for HR block. Repeated updates needed. The software did the final check ok to file and it was rejected. The issue was HR needed yet another update. Stay away.
