I have been using this tax software for many years and find it to be almost like having a CPA at your side. The structured approach covers all subjects and makes it very difficult to omit an entry. The Audit function has been flawless and the cost is minimal for such a comprhensive system.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast

It’s a scam, buyer beware

I’m not sure how this is legal. It shouldn’t cost money for the average person to pay taxes. Most developed countries have free online services to assist with taxes. (And H&R’s ‘free’ services are a bait and switch scam too)
H&R Block lobbyists have somehow gutted the IRS to the point where it can barely function, made it impossible for the IRS to establish a free tax filing system, and convinced people that they need expensive software to file taxes. It’d be comical if it wasn’t hurting the country.
They also charged me twice for State Filing after my Federal return was rejected due to a typo. Beware that if you file state and federal together, and federal is rejected for ANY reason, they will charge you to file state again.
It’s also impossible to import documents, even pdf documents from the IRS.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great program, very fast coming on, not like turbo tax. Seemed easier to use, and was half the price of turbo tax big plus. H&R keep your price low you will get more

I have used H and R block for a few years, but this was my first time using the software. The online version is much better. The software could not upload simple pdf files, or accurately convert pictures as it suggests. I basically had to do everything manually, and double check every entry because I found errors from attempted uploads. It was difficult to follow and it did provide clear cut answers when seeking more info on topics. It is almost designed to force the average person to buy an upgrade for additional support. Luckily, I have a background in accounting and was able to use my knowledge to get through the process without assistance. I have used FreeTaxUSA before and it is actually better and easier than this software...and its FREE!! So, this was a waste of money, big regret and truly disappointed with software. However, I have used the online version, which costs a lot more, but it is a much smoother process than the software.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Get's better every year!

I have used H&R block Software for years. It gets easier and more straightforward to use as the years go by. I would use free Tax software but I have instances where I need to pay for it.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

Not as smooth as it used to be

Imports on W2's managed to skip data requiring manual entry. The 1098 functionality insisted on trying for a average mortgage balance. Those points managed to make what was once fairly simple needlessly complicated and annoying.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to import documents

Frustrating

The program filled out a form for energy credits when I did not buy anything thet required it. The program would not let me file until I filled in my primary residence on the form, but it would not let me put it in... I had to just delete the form
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Hard to import documents
