I have been using H & R Block tax software for years. The Deluxe with State has all the features I need to complete my tax forms at about half the price of its main competitor!
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

I wish I had the ability to quickly switch from married filing joint to married filing separate without losing any data to best evaluate which filing option is best. Also, they never sent me a coupon this year like previous years.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Hard to import documents

Not reliable for e-filing

e-filing my 2023 return with this software was a nightmare. Tried it over the last couple of days but it kept hanging and giving an error message stating "Bad Gateway". On the third day (April 15) it kept doing the same thing multiple times. I also received two emails with one stating my return was received and the second one stating my return was accepted. When I checked the e-file status on the software, it stated "your return is not filed".
Used this software for the last few years but this will be the last. Absolutely no support available.
Cons: Time consuming

H&R server connection problem on the last tax day

I kept running into "We're having trouble in connecting your software to the server" problem, from 11 pm to midnight on 4/14/24 then 5 am to 6 am on 4/15/24. I rebooted the computer a few times, but still having the same problem. After giving up trying, I found in my email box, the return was successful and IRS has accepted my filing. Going back to my software, though, it shows the return wad not filed. I think there is a serious glitch in H&R block's server and software, and tech should be aware of it and fix in time.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

AWFUL EXPERIENCE

I have been trying for 12 hours to efile my tax return and keep getting error messages, emails saying it was accepted, then emails saying it was rejected. Worst experience ever.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
