I have been using the standard Federal and Satate return version for years and have never had a problem. I particularly like when they inform you that making certain entries are "uncommon". It gets your attention to really examine what you are entering.
I think the IRS appreciates people using computer programs to file as they, like H & R are so accurate.

Software gets the job done but the fees just keep adding up? Need more help? Pay us more. Want to efile? Pay us more. Want more features? Pay us more. For as many copies of this they are selling, there's no way it should cost this much.

We purchased HR Block to try it out. The fees to file are less than Turbo Tax and so was the price when we purchased it. But it is not as user friendly, when printing it does not print well ( schedules were not on one pages like Turbo Tax.)
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming

I was unable to finalise my tax return because of a server error they were having. I ended up having to print my return and mail it even though I paid to have it electronically sent. Not a happy customer.
