I have been using HR Block for about 12 years ,Each year the improvements are helpful and meaningful. I have never been audited, but had two issues that were bothersome the first was about 9 years ago when the IRS said the Electronc submission was not received in a legible condition , so I had to submit the Return as a hard copy, that they did accept and approve. I paid for free Efiling but didn't get it. The 2nd issue is with the 2024 tax return The IRS accepted my return then sent me a notice saying they wanted more time to review (60days), its been over a year and I still don't have my refund, they haven't asked for any further information or suggested anything was wrong so I don't know if this is like the first issue where the transmission was the problem
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Fast
Cons: Hard to import documents

I have been using H&R Block software for years and last year I turned 73 so I had to calculate my IRA RMD. There is no calculator or questionnaire in the software to guide the user. I had to do that independently. There are a list of warnings that have no relevancy to my return and on form fields that have been filled out correctly. Very confusing and unnecessary. Form print should be sent to windows print so that unnecessary forms aren’t printed out needlessly.

getting worse every year.

Clunky software, that misses lots especially when you go to import forms for stock sales. Asking the help system built in is absolutely useless, it only says it cant help. When entering energy credit items there is little to know help for looking up what I need to enter in for say a heat pump. I asked the help and its of no use there, not even a pointer in where to look. When I went to file there was a surprise stop where I couldn't file as I needed another doc attached for the heat pump? Why did the software not ask when we entered it prior and wait till I was in the very stages of filing for that and already paid my fee for state?

I have relatively simple taxes, so I find that doing my taxes myself saves me time and money. I had multiple W2s and overpaid into my 401k, and the sw correctly flagged it and gave me suggestions. I was able to file federal and state electronically and received my refunds quickly

I’ve used H&R Block tax software for years. I like the friendly interface. I do taxes for all my children so the free w-files are most welcome. Only thing is the cost of the state software if you need multiple states.
