Purchased the Deluxe software, along with one State. I've been using HRB for several years, switched from TurboTax. This year, I had to restart the install twice, but got it loaded. Things went as expected, for the most part. When I got to the State section, the software told me I could not continue without the most recent update, and provided a convenient button control to access the needed update. The update failed. Not just once, but three times. I finally had to contact CS for advice. The nice gentleman actually emailed me the direct link. Using that one, everything went smoothly. We ended up with the same professional submittal and tracking we've come to expect from HRB tax software.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund

I have been using block tax software for decades and I file my own taxes each year confidently. My only complaint this year dealt with a form I needed which required an update that didn't come through until late in the season. This is likely an IRS issue.

the tax prep is okay, i didn't have any trouble. I had to file in Missouri. When i printed out the forms to file, the program knew i had to submit the federal tax documents with the state. But the program did not print out the federal forms. So when i was ready to file, i had to read the directions for filing, go back home and print the correct forms and then go back to the post office. If the program knew i needed the forms, you would think that it would print them out.
There was also an option to take a picture of the forms, but that didn't work very well.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Hard to import documents
