I use H&R Block every year and have for more than 20 years. I find the software intuitive, easy to use, and comprehensive.
I only have a single item to mention: sometimes, the audit check at the end, indicates that there is an entry that needs to be corrected when it really doesn't. An example is the requirement for a federal tax ID for Medicare - but Medicare doesn't have a federal tax ID!
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

In the past I have uses the program with great ease. This year was awful bug filled software where week after week the forms to submit my taxes would be delayed including having my taxes rejected because the software forms were wrong. How does a tax software company not have the forms completed until April.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I've been using H&R BLOCK software for a few years now and I am happy with it. This year I was eligible for a Clean Vehicle credit, which apparently the IRS did not have ready by the time I wanted to file my taxes, so I had to wait. Then when the IRS was ready, I had to wait another week, then a second because there was apparently a problem with the initial implementation. Annoying, but it eventually all worked: Given past good experience, I expect this is an "edge case" issue.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming

I have been preparing Income-Tax-Returns for 50+ years (20+ years On-line), but have not done it professionally.
The filing was a little rough for the State (PA) & Local (Clinton Cty). There were a few spots where was "stumped" on how to proceed and had to make some guesses. In particular, the Local-Return was rated only a fair experience. the PA-40 (W-2 Reconciliation Worksheet) was provided for download but the completion was not p/o the H&R S/W. I knew that it had to be uploaded into the S/W once I manually completed it, but I couldn't figure out how to do it. It was only after I felt a lot of desperation and selected SUBMIT did I get the prompt for upload, which seemed way out of place. One of the "Alert-Check" led me on a continuous loop with no breakout point. The instructions for "Local-Tax-Withheld" made no sense. The address for the mailing of Form CLGS-32-1 (Local EIT return) was incorrect (very old street & town).
I would recommend this to a friend!

Believe it or not, I have used the H&R tax software to complete my Federal and State taxes since 2011. I have found it very easy to use and its accuracy simply can't be beat ... aside from using a professional tax preparer. And, I plan to continue using it. :-)
