I've used Turbo Tax for over 10 years so I'm very familiar with its ability to walk the user through various scenarios. HR Block is not as easy. For example, the installation procedures required the user to KNOW how to install software in general. It didn't lead the user to start installation when the download was completed. If there were questions about a certain tax situation, HR Block would merely pop up a "pat" explanation -- no examples. Turbo Tax, I believe, uses bots to customize the answer.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Not Coded To PropAddress States Without Income Tax

Having relocated from CA to WA last year, I had to file in CA, but NOT in WA, as it has no income tax. The software kept throwing up "errors," asking for State Income and Taxes withheld for WA, not allowing me to complete my returns until that info was input. I finally, just put in the Fed Income and zero State Tax withheld. Next year, I'll just use the free IRS service.

I have been using the H&R Block software every year for at least 10 years. I think the program is very easy to use, and feel confident that my taxes are filed correctly when I submit.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
This statement is not true for everyone as the IRS sent me a letter stating that I should receive my refund by the end of June which could be about 4 times longer.
