I've used H&R Block tools for many years and it really makes filing easy. I've never had any issues with my returns. It would be helpful if they expanded the help with K-corp filing. That can be very confusing and there isn't much guidance.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast

This is my 2nd or 3rd year using this for my taxes. It does a good job for my needs. My gripe is that a free State tax filing is not included.

Preferring to use a desktop application, I have used the H&R Block Deluxe software for the last 4 tax years (since 2020) to eFile my Federal Taxes. I had previously used TaxAct but, after their large price hike, I looked at other desktop software tax programs and found that H&R Block Deluxe software was a far better value and had better features which TaxAct lacked at the time. It streamlined importing investment data directly from the source. The interview format walks the user through the input process while still allowing direct input if so desired. The software allows for 5 free Federal eFiles while State Income Tax filing is, like others, an optional paid add-on. H&R Block Deluxe 2023 Software performed without any issues with help topics along the way to assist with any questions or clarifications about what to enter if unsure. No one likes to do income taxes but if you have to, this is a great choice to ease the task.

The application works well. Downside is the cost, added to the fact that you also have to pay to file a state return. Too expensive, wihen there are so many options to file for free.

For those who have returns more complex than the basic levels of most software the H&R Deluxe is the most cost effective software to use for what many older retires need. They are the ONLY reasonable DIY package that handles 1099B income without having to go to business level and far more expensive packages from others.

You still have not fixed interest income form to properly account for accurred interest and bond premiums without having to jump through hoops. This has cost me several thousand dollars over the years as I finally learned how to enter the data properly this year. Also the state program for Louisiana did not properly account for my retirement income.

Cons: Doesn't maximize refund
