Decent tax software but upload failed repeatedly

I entered and submitted my return without issue. I had extreme difficulty uploading my son's return over the weekend just ahead of the filing deadline. I finally got his to upload the afternoon of 4/15.

It did not and by the time I got the federal return back, interest and penalties had accrued on my state taxes with no notification.

Good but California State segment needs improvemen

This year while using Block software to compile my California State tax, it became clear that the state portion of the software needs improvement. There are areas in the Calif. return where the user finds himself alone and without guidance. Which is surprising since 20% if the countries population lives here.
I can’t help but wonder if the experience in Turbo Tax is more user friendly?
