I have been using H&R Block software for my taxes for the last ten years. I chose it because of H&R knowledge of the tax laws. The recent problem TurboTax had with incorrect Oregon state tax calculations affirms my choice.
When i was getting ready to file I notIced that your program pulled incorrect data for adjusted gross income from last years return. That two years in a row that this error occurred. I am switching to a new provider for this year. Hopefully one that does not make this error. I had to re-file kast year, thanks to Block.
I always do H & R because it is easy to transfer my personal information from last year and I like the follow up notifications when sent and accepted. Some of the infromation is not clear as to the name of the forms that are needed. Even from year to year I have to researsh what it is asking for a form.
This is my preferred tax software program which I have used for many years. This year ,for For some reason that I still am not aware of, apparently there was an "arithmetic" error that caused IRS to deduct over $ 1,500.00 than your software had calculated. By this same error my Commonwealth of Virginia also charged me an additional $ 500.00 plus late fees for this mistake. I had reviewed at least three times my federal return before submitting.
I have been using H&R Block software for years and find it non-problematic and easy to use. I will continue to use it, but I wish it included more information about how to handle off-nominal situations or links to the IRS instructions.
