I've used H&R Block Deluxe tax software since 2017 and found it to be fairly user friendly, but not as much so as its nearest competitor. However, it is much more robust for the price and its accuracy is unquestionable. It was a little bit confusing at first, but now that I've used it a number of years, I find it fairly easy to navigate even though I've had minor issues in the past where after its final audit, it would recommend non-consequential entries where none were required. Also, this year, I had a 1099-B with over 400 entries which caused the program to crash repetedly. My work around was to save multiple times after verifying a limited number of 1099-B entries.I also had issues importing my tax data from a broker service that I've used in the past. I suspect it was due to the 1099-B issue identified above.
TurboTax engaged in price gouging a few years back, so I switched to H&R Block. I was pleasantly surprised that H&R Block didn't make me waste time by watching explanatory videos, but simply explains things in text. It's great for those of us that know how to read.
