I am still running Windows 7 on my desktop, so each year I wait to see if anyone mentions that they were able to run it on Windows 7. I saw that someone had done it, so it was a no-brainer for me to use it, as I've used H&R Block Deluxe + State for many years. It's straightforward to use, even if you have to go back and correct something, it will let you make the correction then pick back up where you left off.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents

I filled my Federal tax early because I hand a big refund. I owed quite on my State tax so I wanted to make sure there were no errors and there was no reason to file it early so I waited and when I filed it I had to refile my Federal also and I then found I still had errors so I corrected them sent both of them again. My State return is still pending om May 24!

The default to single on the HSA caused problems both last year and this year. The program indicated a penalty for having too much withheld. We have a family HSA. I caught it this time around. Also program didn't offer all deductions we could have claimed on the state program
Pros: Easy to import documents, Fast
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund

Im considering alternative software as h&r block is too expensive even when filing on my own. It used to be reasonable but now it's expensive and desevingly so. You buy the software and it implies a state will come with it then you find out you have to pay extra for the state. Disappointing.
