I had to cancel the first 2 and get refunded as the California return would not download. H$R finally gave me a link workaround to get it to download. Very frustrating and time consuming. It also doesn’t cover very well military tax requirements .
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I've used H&R Block Deluxe software for 10+ years, and find that it's accurate and fairly easy to use. Though generally satisfied, several enhancements would improve the software. First, the ability to print returns using both sides of paper would reduce waste. Second, answers for some topics don't provide enough depth to allow preparers to understand; more detailed explanations with links to IRS publications would prove helpful. Although H&R Block does an excellent job of tracking new legislation and providing updates as tax regulations change, the software itself could be more robust and user-friendly. The general framework doesn't appear to have been upgraded since I started using it in 2002. It's "stale" and could be improved without losing compatibility with prior-year returns.
Pros: Maximizes refund
Cons: Time consuming
