Terrible experience using HR Block Maryland State

For the second year in a row I have had significant incomplete forms produced. Both rejected by Comptroller of Maryland Tax authority. Last it resulted in a 9month delay in receiving our tax refund. Concerned I had the this years HR Block forms reviewed by personnel at the Comptroller’s Office; and informed of multiple missing entries/fields not completed. They did my taxes for me.
I have been a Kiplinger then HR Block tax software utilizer for over 20 years, and thought to try again this year despite last year’s delay. I will go otherwise next year.

I have been using this software for years, and the thing I have noticed is the deterioration in free assistance. It used to be you could get help via a customer discussion forum, but I have not been able to locate that anymore. Even worse, this year I had a technical question on the use of the software, not strictly tax related, and the "help" I got was not helpful at all. I ended up having to turn to reddit, which actually ended up being a great move for me!
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming

This product is easy to use for uncomplicated tax returns. Filing has always been free for multiple returns. You are prompted on which fields are needed based on your answers to the programs filing questions. Be careful not to get the + STATE program if your state has no income taxes like Texas.

While the tool is generally easy to use, there are ways to make it more efficient. Some tax forms, like K-1's have things that are not handled by the software and have not been for a few years now.
