The inability to e-file, the repeated charging of the state filing fee with each failed e-file attempt, the lack of real-time communication regarding the technical issues relating to inability to e-file, the failure to fix the software issues in a timely manner, and the failure of senior management to address the issues and apologize for the failures requires a negative rating for this product.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The software is acceptable. It feels clunky and dated. It's clear that it was originally created ~20 years ago (or more) and they've just maintained it. Overall, it's competent for doing taxes, although some aspects were confusing and some of the documentation was weak and limited. Additionally, as with most tax prep software makers, they charge you an extra fee for state eFile.

My only problem is that your software does not allow me to enter a basis on an inherited IRA. As such, I have to prepare Form 8606 on my own and then I can't e-file. Bummer!!

Cons: Hard to import documents

It is easy to follow and you never have to worry about forgetting important information. The tax return is always acknowledged as being received and accepted within minutes and usually within a week our refund is direct deposited in the bank.
