If you're going to charge for the state preparation, and also include federal preparation and filing, then you should also include state filing at no additional cost. You're exposing customers to risk if they have a state refund, because they have to manually provide banking information in the mail filing. Overall software is generally okay but nothing special compared to your competitors.
I have been using this product for years and am happy with it . The only drawback is you can only download 1 state . All others you have to pay extra for
Multiple dates were promised for delivery of Form 2210 for irregular income. It kept being pushed out. Even telephone reps couldn't tell me accurately as to expected date of availability Paper version from IRS was on their website during this time. A similar experience in future will prompt me to change vendors..
The software for the 2023 tax year was a disappointment. I was still waiting for final updates for forms well into March and ended up filing elsewhere with a free website for my partner because he didn’t want to wait any longer for your updates. So I felt that I got less value out of the software this year.
Terrible. Absolutely terrible, if not criminal. Hard time to efile, then finally got email from H&R Block saying that it was accepted, May 1st. Still no refund or Amazon gift card. Many problems with software, such as could not generate forms 1099-DIV
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents
The H&R Block Deluxe Federal only program I use every year. We don't have a state income tax in Tennessee so I don't use the state program. It works very good for me and I am able to get my taxes done in one or two days when I have all my paperwork to do them. The program is very easy to use and following the instruction makes it easy to use too. I think that the H&R Block Deluxe Federal only software is my go to program every year.
