This is the third year now that I’ve been unable to file in late February due to errors in the software program. It takes several phone calls before they finally tell me it’s an error, and then it takes a couple weeks for an update. Very frustrating!
Cons: Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I had trouble learning to navigate back and forth between the federal forms and state forms. I was pleased the state material included the local city "arts tax". I expect to use the 2024 version of this software.

I've been using H&R Block software for many years to do my tax returns. I've always found it reliable and fairly simple to use. It picks up and prefills info from the previous year's tax return and can access 1099 forms from their sources (if available) without having to enter the data manually. The only drawback is that it is hard to find the actual tax calculation when capital gains and dividends are involved.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast

I have been using H&R Block tax programs for at least 20 years. They have worked great for me and my family. They are easy to navigate and gives me confidence my taxes are filed accurately. I am retired so I download the program in the late fall every year and calculate my tax liability before the start of the new year. This way I can make adjustments on my IRA withdrawals before the end of the year.
