I have been using H&R Block tax software for several years. It is easy to use and asks all the right questions to ensure that I am reporting taxes properly. While the ease of use is important, the most important aspect is that I can depend on the software to have all the changes the IRS makes and the applicable tax law correct.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast
Good comprehensive pgm that covers most situations

I have used Tax Cut / H&R Block deluxe/state software for over 20 years and have never had a problem. I even redid my kids returns done by tax offices a few times and came up with more savings. Over the years I have used sched A, B, C, D and E and multiple forms dealing with retirement accts, investments, educational expenses and misc state adjustments. The only time I had to do offline manual calculations was for K1’s from a complex MLP investment and the non-taxable portion from non-qualified annuity payments. However, the program had inputs for the data once I calculated it.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents
