I have used H&R Block tax software for several years and I largely satisfied with it.
However, almost every year there are issues flagged during the post-completion verification process that do not seem appropriate. For example, this year (tax year 2024) despite the fact that I did not indicate that I would pay taxes to more than one state, two data issues were flagged in the worksheet pertaining to multi-state tax payment. I used the Massachusetts state tax software.

It did the trick. For State of CA E*file, it is cheaper than TurboTax. I wish it was free. Why isn't it?
The other thing I like is you can upload last years' taxes from either a PDF or the actual program. TurboTax will only take PDFs

I have been using this software since it was tax cut. It has been a very good program to use and it has always been very helpful. Until this year it has always been very cost effective to use it. It is looking like I'll have to find a different source for my tax software.

I bought the program before the end of the year so I could get started on my return. I received the $15 off but since there has been 2 offers that would have saved me on the substantial increased cost of the program if i waited. The last being 40% off. The increased cost is making me rethink using for 2025. I have been a loyal customer for years. I'm a senior who has done taxes for a few decades.
