I have used this for years and it works well. The price keeps going up and I am not sure I need all the bells and whistles. I have to buy Deluxe in order to get the state program. Having them both work together is a great plus. Saves a lot of work.

I just filed my 2024 federal and state income tax returns using H&R Block's software. This is the 20th year that I have used H&R Block's software. Decades ago I switched from TurboTax because at the time it was easier for me to interface with my older version of Quicken even though at that time both TurboTax and Quicken were both made by Intuit. Switching was easy and I have never regretted it.
Taxes are complicated but H&R Block walks you through tax preparation as if you were sitting down with a tax preparer. Their software can download your tax forms from your employer and your financial institutions, check your tax return for errors and irregularities and then electronically file your tax return.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents

Federal software is fine, price is competitive

I was perfectly happy with the federal software but I couldn’t get the CT state software to give me a result that matched what the official CT DRS online filing told me was due, even though I provided identical input to both. I don’t know if it’s not up-to-date yet but this was a definite concern.
