The software makes it very easy to compile your taxes, and I love that it passes data from the Federal Return to the State version. This year I was transitioning from the Windows version to the Mac version. Very glad I had saved copies of my previous returns in the cloud, rather than only on my former laptop which is dead. When you stay on the same computing platform the transition from year to year is even easier.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

After using this program for years, I found that the 2024 was much more diddicult to follow and use. Much more difficult to find answers and clean up
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare

This software works well for preparing Federal and State tax returns. The questionnaire is complete and relatively easy to follow. I especially like the ability to electronically import 1099 forms from financial institutions.
There are two things that I don't like. The extra charge for submitting the state return electronically should be included in the purchase price and the feature to calculate estimated tax for next year doesn't work well for one of the largest groups that need to file estimated tax, namely retired people. The interview should ask for social security income and distribution from tax sheltered retirement accounts. I end up having to use IRS form 1040-ES which is not very user friendly.
