Difficulty in handling Foreign Income

One of my daughters has been working in China since August 2025. I filled out the Form 2555 as I have done in past years for her. Since she did not yet meet either the bona fide residence test or the physical presence test, I left Section II of that form blank. However, the error message in the software said that I could not complete both Sections II and III (which I didn't). This resulted in my being unable to electronically file the return. Due to the error message, I had to make my first trip to the Post Office at 4:25 PM on April 15th.
When I got back, I learned that Pennsylvania would not electronically file her state return because of the presence of the Form 2555 as part of her federal return. This caused trip # 2 to the Post Office where I had to drive 30 minutes each way to the central Post Office and wait on line there for an hour to mail that return.
While I have used your software for many years, this was a most disappointing experience.
Pros: Fast
Cons: Hard to prepare
I would recommend this to a friend!

Works well, but doesn't always match the IRS rules

It worked mostly well, but I had to fight with form 5695, Residential Energy Credit.
I had a heat pump water heater installed at my non-primary home. Even though some parts of Form 5695 require that you have the work performed on your primary home, that's not true for all of it, specifically the heat pump water heater section.
However, the interview wouldn't let me enter the data once I told it that it wasn't my primary home.
Similarly, some of the items on this form require that you pay for a energy home audit. Again, when I said that I hadn't done that, it wouldn't let me fill in the rest of the form.
Cons: Hard to prepare
I would recommend this to a friend!

Direct deposit info not copied to CA state forms

i entered my bank rtn and account number for direct deposit prior to efilng my federal tax forms, then i printed my California state tax forms to mail it in and saw that bank rtn and account numbers were not on the state forms. i was never asked during the state interview to enter this info or carry it over from the federal forms. i assumed it would be carried over. i don't appreciate it not being carried over, not being asked in the interview, having to hunt down the check box in a obscure background sheet to enable this information to be inserted into the proper location on my state form, wasting my time or wasting my paper
