H&R Block's Deluxe software is excellent, but they should provide clearer Box 14 categories for New York filers, including specific options for NY SDI and NY Paid Family Leave / NYPFL, instead of forcing users to choose “Other.” That workaround creates unnecessary final-review warnings even when the W-2 entries are routine and correctly reported.
Pros: Easy to prepare

Having used the program before, it made this years return much easier due to the ability to import all of the accounts and details from the prior year. The only problem I had was that I was due a refund and requested the Treasury send me a check. About a week ago I got a letter from the TreasuryDdepartment saying they could not make a direct deposit to my bank account because the effort to make a deposit was rejected by my bank (?). Not sure if this was glich in the program or an error at the Treasury Department.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Time consuming
I would recommend this to a friend!

Functional tax preparation software, easy to use. That said it offered me the choice of direct deposit or paper check for my refund. I received a letter from the IRS a couple weeks later, seems the option for a paper check was eliminated it September of 2025 so I had to jump through hoops on the IRS website to setup the direct deposit information.

There were some bumps in the process. When I first started using your product I was able to text, free of charge, an expert and got either a written response or a telephone response which is no longer available. I changed from another software program to your program but I’m hearing that the other has progressed through the years I’ve been with you. I’ll have to check into it next year before I purchase

Like many Americans who live in one state and work in another, I have to file two State returns. HR Block charges you MORE to download a second State package than you paid for the Deluxe + State software. This is just a ripoff of customers who have no alternative.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I’ve used HRB software for years. When attempting to file my paid for state return, the software would not allow me to do it. I contacted HRB, was forwarded a repair solution, but that never worked. Rather than spend a couple more hours on the phone with HRB, I decided to print and forward the state return to Kansas. So although it’s reasonably easy to use your software since I worked for HRB for two years about two decades ago, I was extremely disappointed in the failure of being unable to forward the state taxes online In spite of the fact that I paid for it.
Pros: Easy to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
