Easy to use but troubles with state filing.

Federal return worked fine but double charged for electronic filing of state returns that didnt work. Filed by mail. Promised credits that never came.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund

Bug in 2024 Louisiana software

Everything worked great, except there was a software bug related to the LA state return. For some reason, it wouldn't deduct federal retirement benefits from the LA taxable income. Fortunately, after playing with it for awhile it suddenly fixed itself ; I think it worked around the initial bug when I opened Schedule E and tried to manually enter Code 04E - it gave me a warning message so I didn't actually change anything, but once I closed the form all the entries and calculations were suddenly correct.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have been buying this tax software for many years now and have been satisfied. However, for tax year 2024, I filed as married filing jointly, but my wife had died during the taxable year and the software would not support me e-filing my state tax return. I was disappointed that I had to mail my state return. Home state is Virginia.
