I have used H&R Block software for many years and I find it mostly easy to use. This year was a little harder but not impossible. I had to go to the actual form to make sure the information I put in, partially donating my RMD to charity, was recorded correctly.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund

Requiring everyone who submitted a 1099-R to go through the interview regarding Form 5329 was very confusing. This is the first time I have run into this. My RMD is calculated by the plan administrator and I am confident it is correct. The interview then automatically generates a Form 5329 for the return. Why?

Certainly not Turbo Tax. Very cumbersome and not user friendly. Would not close out and allow to use Apple for other applications. Would have been faster preparing my return manually.

It’s February 25th. IRS rejected my return a couple of days ago. I guess I need to wait until all of the software updates are done. Next scheduled update is February 28th. I still like Block better than the alternatives.

Generally, this works well, but has a few quirks and minor glitches. Over the years of using this software, I have adapted to these minor problems. In my opinion, most PC (Windows) software is not perfect, but also not a major problem.

Even with the latest updates the software says interviews are incomplete on multiple pages related to 1099-B entries. Confusing and annoying.
