I'm a long-time customer from the days of Kiplinger prior to the merger with HR Block. The software always installs easily, updates without issue, and it just works, very well. The improvements over the years have made it even easier to use. The guided instructions are helpful and accurate, and the included help libraries provide any additional information necessary. My federal and state returns have always been accepted without any problems.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

Everything worked smoothly like past years except for the second year in a row the state return download and install failed. Happily support used my suggestion on how it was resolved last year. Even so, support kept trying to give windows advice after multiple times telling that I’m a Mac user.

Been using HR Block tax programs for over 20 years ! Easy to use, accurate, no problems! If I have one suggestion, that would be to go back to using CDs instead of using the internet download system! Or, at least give your users the option to use either system!

Decent for standard return, but leaves things out
on April 17, 2026

Overall, the software is good for a "normal" tax return. But it warned me there were "concerns" I think was the term. When I clicked on the concern it just took me to the tax return, like I know what that means. If I knew how to fill it out the tax return itself I wouldn't have bought your software!
Also, my state (Georgia) requires you to submit a copy of the 1040 Federal and various schedules from it along with the state return. When the software offers to print everything for the state it should include those as well. Thankfully I read over the state return before sending it in.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Time consuming
