I've used H&R Block Deluxe-level prep software for about 12 years. It's been mostly satisfactory, although every year seems to present a new challenge/limitation/flaw. This year, it was an error so grave that had I not spent MAAAAANY hours (days, really) researching/diagnosing/analyzing my return (which the SOFTWARE is supposed to do) I'd have suffered a filing error that would have cost me many thousands of dollars. Unfortunately, neither the software's 'check return' functions, the built-in help, nor H&R online were any help.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I've used H&R Block for years and every year I'm able to complete my taxes with a high level of certainty that everything is correct. H&R Block software used to provide a tutorial on important and relevant tax changes with a cartoon type informational skit, which was a major help to me in understanding the differences and in planning for the future, but they stopped this helpful practice a number of years ago :(.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund

I was disappointed that the AGI for both my daughter and I did not match CA info. We had to electronically file with a signature and the return was rejected for it. Our AGI is correct.

I will never, ever, ever use your software again. It's terrible. Way to many updates. It's now march and the irs keeps rejecting me even when there are no issues with my e-filing !!! I purchased so that I could get my return in a timely manner. With the continuous updates, into march ???? I'm not recommending this product to anyone. In fact, I'm letting everyone know how poor this program is due to never ending updates !!! Your product SUCKS !!!!

program worked very well for me ... only small glitch was that it wasn't fully clear (or i missed the prompt) where to enter the six digit PIN I received from the IRS ... so IRS rejected the return and it took me quite a while to figure out why and how then to enter the pin.
