The problem with asking for a rating of tax software is you need a basis of comparison. I've used yours for 20 years. Are you asking me to also buy another product and see if it imports better or give a different result?

I have used H&R Block Deluxe Tax Software for over 10 years. I love the program. It is easy to use and is not filled with tax jargon like many of the tax programs. It asked simple questions and fills in the forms according to your answers. However, this year it was not quite as easy to use and it had crazy disclaimers attached to the program. For example, it asks me to approve my information being shared with accountants in the Philippians! What is that all about? Can we not keep US tax information in house and secure within the USA? I think my lower rating this is based more on the "tone" of the program than on the program itself that worked fine. The "tone" of the program felt like the tone a company uses when they are undergoing change. Charge like "we are done with this program" or "Turbo Tax is better". I do not know if any of that is true, but taxes are stressful enough without all the extra baggage of knowing that Block can
not service their tax clients in the USA without sending all my tax info worldwide and opening my taxes up to the entire internet. Please bring it home and make Block a USA tax program to service USA tax filing.

The product is adequate. I just finished filing my federal tax return and encountered 2 bugs that I had to do an "end run" around to prevent inaccurate filings. One was HRB demanding an appraiser's sign-off on donated household goods (fixed by deleting and re-entering my donation data) and the other was an excess accumulation penalty that I corrected by manually overriding an entry on form 5329.
