Since 2009, I have used HR Block tax software to complete my federal and state taxes. Its simple step-by-step format is intuitive. The end of process double-check for correctness gives an extra level of confidence prior to upload submittal. And each year allows the data to be retrieved from the prior. I'll keep using it . . . because it works!
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents

I have used H&R Block tax software for at least a dozen years. Never had an issue before and that is why I kept using it. This year when I tried to eFile my PA state return I got a message that I had to attach some form. Couldn't figure out what it was. Tried a variety of what I thought were good possibilities but each time I got a subsequent message telling me to remove the attachment. Finally gave up and filed through the mail.

There is an issue/software glitch that calculated my Indiana return incorrectly. I called and was told to use a manual override on the form
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund

The only issue I have had is the annual renewal. It comes way early.

Overall it is a good product. But… 3 Years ago I complained that the Federal software didn’t include the form 5405 for repayment of first time homeowner credit. We got a nasty from the IRS and had to go thru a pain to get them that form. 2 years ago I assumed that you had fixed it. No…. same nasty from IRS. Last year the same. This year I am having to NOT efile because you again aren’t including the form. Good thing the repayment ends this year. Not sure I want to use your software again.

I'm just paranoid about doing my taxes online - always have been - and Block is a trustworthy name. In all these years, I've only had to call ONCE for help, and was able to get to someone right away who knew the situation and had the correct answer for me. (It wasn't to my financial benefit, but it WAS the right answer!)
