VA state pgm poorly done; missing attn to detail

I wasted over an hour trying to discover why the VA state program skipped over the elderly $12,000 credit, only showing information on a similar disability credit worksheet. There's no excuse for the program providing no explanation. I couldn't even find/access the elderly credit worksheet until I attempted to override the value (program forbade) but was finally directed upstream to the worksheet stating the credit was not allowed for filers who earn too much.
And I'm really tired of being forced to go through the itemization process when I already know the standard deduction is greater. PROVIDE A CHOICE/BYPASS!
