I received a printed advertisement , as I do each year, with a discounted price offer and a link to the website to purchase and download the software. When using the advertised link the software is for sale at a different (regular retail) price. Neither the printed advertisement nor the website had any instruction or method to receive the discounted price. I’m fairly savvy with online shopping and tried in vain for over 30 minutes to find a way to get the advertised price. It seems like it could be a class action lawsuit for deceptive advertising. Fix this!!!
Pros: Easy to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I purchased the Deluxe plus state download for Montana. I'm an enrolled tribal member. Montana subtracts enrolled tribal member income for specified criteria, which I meet. The software did not allow me to enter that information. It was useless. I contacted the help center twice and was advised to wait for updates and to reload the state software. I did both. There were no updates that fixed this issue and reloading the software did not remedy the problem. I ended up submitting a paper state return.
The federal program performed very well.
Pros: Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

In general, this is a good tax package. I think the help information could be improved. I often end up googling a subject instead of using the help provided. Also, be very careful when printing the forms. The Official Return printing does not print all forms. For example, it printed one Schedule C but not the other on my state return. Use the Selected Forms option instead.
