I have used this software for the last 5 years. It continues to get better. Still can use some improvements. I have an investment account that makes a lot of trades. I would prefer to have to not be required to check each individual trade

I have been using HRB software for 20 years or so. It’s a lot cheaper than going to paid tax preparer. I don’t need an appointment to use it. I do have to be honest and careful with data entry. A few lines of code and it could predict your RMD’s (like with the recommendations on combining local taxes or charities every other year.
Pros: Fast
Cons: Time consuming

This glitch kept me from filing electronically. I have an IP Pin issued by the IRS. The Block software had a space for this pin to be entered, BUT it was a 6 digit pin and the space would only allow 5 digits. I tried 3 times to file and was rejected 3 times because of this!! I had to end up filing by mail and paying for certified mail for both envelopes (state & fed). WHY??
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Very good overall, but extremely difficult to set a future payment date for both Fed and State when working in "forms mode." A "set payment date if taxes owed" section in the background info sheet would make so much more sense than the convoluted approach currently available. Plus, the future payment date, if used, should be given on the filing information cover sheet since it does not appear anywhere on the 1040. Very frustrating and disappointing.
