When I ran into problems downloading information from my Merrill Lynch account I contacted H&R. Everyone I interacted with was helpful and spent a considerable amount of time with me attempting to resolve the problem. The only drawback was it took two weeks to resolve the problem after elevation of the issue to two higher tiers.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Hard to import documents

I have been using H&R Block for the past 7 years, it has been easy to install and enter all the tax required information to complete. Most items are easy to understand and answered except a few out of normal questions that I would need to go to the help section to figure out how to answer.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund

I have used H&R for years but I find the interview is becoming more confusing and questions asked are not as easy to understand and answer as they used to be with this program. I find the interview in the later parts of the program to be somewhat obscure and leaving the customer concerned that not everything has been answered correctly or that something has been missed. It may be the result of a US tax code that is so screwed up that the officials that write it can't really understand it - right?
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Hard to prepare

Some (probably less common) situations are a struggle to figure out, sometimes sending the user to read long and complicated IRS "instructions", which are typically not at all helpful unless the user is a CPA. The last "fix possible errors" process loops forever, even after fixing the same potential errors (which were not errors), repeatedly. The user must exit that forever-loop and hope that they filled the questioned fields correctly.
Pros: Easy to prepare
