Fed + State version is the most economical choice

Used the software to complete my personal taxes along with my elderly parents. I've used this product for many years and it always allows me to accomplish the end goal in a timely, cost effective matter. The fact that it comes with 5 free electronic federal filings covers everyone. Too bad the state electronic filing isn't included but the Fed + State version allows both to be done at the same time. Will be back next year

There was an error in the Alabama state software that prevented me from filing my return electronically. I had to mail it in. I did so and to this day I still do not know for sure that it was received. They have not yet cashed the check I sent to pay what I owed.

Overall great; search features need improvement

It works well every year to guide me through the many complexities of my return. But its search functions are somewhat clunky. For instance, I tried to search for IRA Distributions and nothing came up. Eventually I tried Distributions, IRA, and then it came up. Like a throwback to early internet days.
Also, if I have a question on how my entry on the actual form got to be what it is, there's no easy search for that. Again, I have to try to guess where in the "interview" that item was asked about. We should be able to search the forms themselves.
Finally, the way the form looks when I go to the forms tab is far more complex than what the actual final form will be, making it hard to read. There needs to be a selection option to view form with all mini-worksheet details OR with ONLY the way it will look in the version that will be submitted.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund

I have been using H&R Block software for > 10 years and I have not had any issues so far. The only thing that you can improve are software glitches while doing accuracy review and when you want to edit information etc. Otherwise it is fairly simple to fill up and submit the form online. Over all , I am very satisfied!
