I have used H&R Block (and Taxcut before that) for many years it's a solid application, easy to use. I have been very satisfied with the results. I do feel that the program could be stronger in handling partnership K1's and stock options.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Fast

I have used the program in the past and found it fairly easy to use. This year I had to file a partial residency state tax. I had a slight problem figuring how I would file e-file or mail since the program didn't have one of the forms I needed which I had to get from the state. Since it wasn't provided by H&R it wasn't clear how I would include that form if I e-filed so I used the mail in option.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Time consuming
I would recommend this to a friend!

I’ve been successful with this software in the past. But, this was my first year, taking an RMD and the software led me somewhere that I probably shouldn’t have gone. The deluxe seems more like a basic version now. It used to take you through the different areas Question and answer. now it just has a bunch of bullet points and you need to select if one applies to you.
Cons: Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

most of the time easy to use. it is difficult to go back if you answered a question and now may want to change it. There is not alot of explanation about some of the questions therefore having to do additional research. The cost has increase significantly though.
Cons: Hard to import documents
