I would have appreciated a Stop! or Alert regarding federal not wanting to send out checks.

Been using since the mid 90's.
Every year I open the previous years return for comparison. It would be really helpful if you could change the "color" of the accents so that when i toggle (alt tab) between returns, i could immediately know that i'm on the other years return... Just change between two or three colors conseculatively... thanks. I mean Heck! It doesn't cost you anything.

I have used H&R BLOCK tax software for decades, and this was the first year it drove me crazy. Steps were missed in the creation of this year's software that caused failure to save info that I had entered, requiring me to re-enter it more than once. In one section, not only did it not save what I had entered, it CHANGED the info I had entered, crediting the item to my husband rather than to me. Because of these errors in carryover, I had to go over every detail of my return with a fine-tooth comb to ensure its accuracy before filing it. What a time-consuming pain! It took me 36 straight hours before I could file them, as compared to 3-4 hours in all past years.

Cons: Time consuming

It doesn't feel as polished as in prior years. It may be time to give Turbo Tax another try after many years of using HR Block. At times, it wouldn't let me delete information - saying I had to wait till later. But it was never clear what "later" meant or how to find it. One of my pet peeves is when the review tell me there's missing information but want me to fix in in the form - not the interview pages. It leaves it up to me to navigate to the actual form. I finally figure out how to get there and it's disorienting to view it in a different way than I entered it. And I see no error and you didn't give enough information to figure out what the problem was or how to fix it. It looked right to me. There were numerous minor surprises that left me feeling like getting the SW out this year was rushed - not polished. One suggestion for improvement - allow me to say I will use the standard deduction (whether it's the best option or not). Now you ask for lots of information that isn't clear to me it's ONLY needed if itemizing. Or at least label it so it's clear I don't have to dig for information that isn't needed for standard deduction.

Purchased 2025 federal and state tax software. Was able to do ine and my daughter's federal return with no problems. I moved during 2025 and the state software had a hard time doing partial year return. Ending up printing the return and manually sending the return in.

The software is good but the pricing on filing state returns is not. I was going to file my state return on the state web site for free but they wouldn't let me reset my password so I had to pay H&R to file my state.
