I have used this software for years. I have never used another package so I don't know how it compares, but obviously it gets the job done or I would have switched. I have had the same complaint year-after-year; it will not let me e-file PA state return because of participation in the EITC scholarship program. I had a new complaint this year. It would not let me e-file Federal because my daughter had three college 1098-T forms. The e-file is limited to two!
I would recommend this to a friend!

comes up short in a few areas. Doesn't carry state data forward from the previous year entirely. And does not seem to offer the simple way to do estimated taxes ( 100% or 110% of current tax bill).
Cons: Hard to prepare

It's decent software for my needs. My returns are fairly straight forward. I have some income from stocks in addition to my full-time work. I do not know how well it would work for a more involved income tax return.

For the second year in a row the Iowa foreign tax credit was calculated incorrectly and then the Iowa e-file was rejected with this Rejection Code: IA-31-FMT-8042-aebd8e6923584a31. The H&R Block explanation for the error code references a possible error on the Federal return, not the Iowa return. I'm done with H&R Block, I'll switch to TurboTax next year.

Pathatic - use turbotax

It didn't calculate the taxes correctly, had to redo it with turbotax. It does not import last years return correctly, seems there is a bug in their software. I didn't want to pay for turbotax since i already purchased this software.
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
