Software makes it easy to do taxes. Everything is automatically downloaded from third-party sites when available and taxes are completed easily with little additional effort. The only negative is that there are some forms, those related to inherited IRAs in my case, that the software doesn’t help complete and in some cases those forms prevent you from filing electronically. Not sure if it’s a software or IRS issue but wish it was fixed.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast

Excellent software for my individual tax returns

I have been using HR Block tax software for 20 years and it has been adequate for almost every year's taxes. The interview process is straight forward for almost everything and I have received responsive support when I needed help. Improvements over the years has made using it easier, especially for state taxes.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Hard to import documents

H&R Block worked for my needs. I am single, with no children, I own a few properties and have some investments. I give to a variety of charitable donations and volunteer in the local community. The software walked me through everything I needed to know and the "What Qualifies?" information boxes are most helpful. I suggest H&R Block over some of those "online FREE Tax Software" programs that are advertised; I feel that this software is safer and gives me a stronger sense of security to know that my tax and personal information is not aimlessly floating around on a server farm somewhere in the middle of the South Pacific Ocean.
And using it year after year becomes easier because your previous year's tax information, charitable organizations, state return, et al. are all uploaded for the current tax year. In addition, because the software format has not changed much it helps me to better organize my paperwork prior to sitting down at the computer and filing so that I have all my documents in order making the inputing of the data much more streamlined once I sit down and begin the process.
I highly recommend H&R Block Deluxe Tax Software to anyone with a computer. It is simple and again: STREAMLINED!

The deluxe package I purchased was ok but leaves many open questions regarding investments. Granted the tax code is complicated regarding some investments but the software really didn't help too much to make it more straight forward.

Product is easy to use, however absolutely useless when it comes to filing. 2 years in a row, my taxes have been rejected because my spouses pin does not match the IRS pin. You provide no answers on how to fix this!
