I have been using H&R Block software for over 15 years and am always satisfied with the ease of navigating the program and the results once I have filed our return with the IRS. I do not, however, use the State software that is available since it is easier and more efficient to use our own State's on-line revenue software.
Pros: Easy to prepare

Been using the downloadable software for my Federal tax forms for many years. The MN state income tax works well however I wish the Property tax form would automatically print out with the MN income tax form. A little more clarification that the property tax is to be mailed and does not file electronically. I like the idea that there are brick and mortar stores I could use if needed.

This was really needed this year. Through all the things that have happened I was hoping to get the program and finally start. I like the way it usually grabs the previous info to start filling in spaces. Always a good program to use.

I’ve been using HR Block software for years now. I started out using TurboTax, but when they got so expensive, I thought I would give HR Block a try. I’m glad I did. It works as well as the others and I love the free e-file. I wish they would make state e-file a bit cheaper, and not charge so much if I need a second state, but overall a great experience.

I've been using the software for 18 years. I usually do an estimate then go back and enter the actual numbers when I get them. This year I entered a late state penalty for worst case scenario. It flagged cannot submit state online. When I went back to finalize and erase the penalty it wouldn't let me submit. Called to see if I could simply erase the state and start over. Nope, support wanted me to start an entirely new return and enter everything from scratch, ridiculous. Will not use again.
Cons: Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have a lot of stocks that are very low $$ so they appear to be blank - sometimes as many as 45 or 50. The software makes me click through each one but doesn't ever resolve it. So, it looks like I didn't do my final check, over and over.
