Bought in December, very disappointed that final updates weren’t ready til March 2025. Kept saying IRS was the reason. Not so!!!! They had final change’s online end of Jan. early Feb.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming

Major complaint with efile AGI from previous year.

there was an issue with your software that happened to me twice regarding last years AGI. I am doubtful that I will purchase again - I don't need the drama and this was a simple item.
My family includes three young students/part time workers. With my oldest daughter, when it came time to e-file the auto populate for LAST YEARS AGI showed zero? I thought that was odd since we used the 2023 H+R software and imported her data to start the 2024 return. So we dug it the old tax form and figured out how to over ride it.
My youngest daughter gets to efile portion and yes, it did auto populate the fed AGI from last year, but her return was rejected by the IRS. Looked up 2023, value matched. manually retyped the same value and it was rejected again. Again, we used H+R 2023 the previous year. AGI is an easy find and even on your cover page.
I don't know why it was rejected? was last year's not communicated correctly? We had to print out everything and mail it in since we could not e-file.
two daughters, two issues with last year's AGI and ability to e-file. Not good.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

When I went to File, it now asks for activation code? It told me my was expired? In the end they gave me a new one I can see this a issue years to come. I owed almost 5k to the Irs. HR software failed to inform me penalty and interest would be forthcoming

If you do data entry directly, then interview later, duplicate items are present. Ugh!
Had to submitted an amended return and the dashboard said amended return had been e-filed, when it had not.
I'll probably switch to FreeTaxUSA next year.

Program seems to be getting worse instead of better. Multiple items not entered in the forms even though entered in the program. And simple things too, like addresses. Even though I did not check the box for Social Security income, the program selected it on its own creating difficulties trying to remove the form from being used.

I have been completing my tax returns by myself for 15 years and all those years I have used H&R Block. The 2024 edition does not disappoint. It is easy and very cost effective. It will import all your stock trades from most major brokerages which is where I save the most time and effort because of this software.
