I've used this software for a number of years but this year I had an RMD which I was putting directly into a charitable donation and the software was unclear on what needed to be done - had to speak to an accountant friend on how to answer. Depending on which way a question was answered I either owed considerable tax or not. I think the software needs to work on this.

I like to know what is on each line in the return. The H & R Block program puts numbers together from several different sources and plugs it into a line on the return with no explanation as to what is included. I have to go searching to try to determine what is included. This year my e-filed Federal return was initially rejected. The program entered the wrong adjusted gross income from the prior year. I don't know where that came from but I had to correct it manually. Also, one of the identifying items was to enter an 5 digit? number for each taxpayer. The program said to enter ANY 5 digit number which I did. IRS said one of them was wrong??? I went back and found the ones used last year and IRS accepted those.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
