I've used their software for years but it was disappointing the lack of support they offered with a tax question. The support has obviously shifted to the online format versus installing their product locally. I don't understand why they value one over the other.

Was glad i purchased but had issues with the Federal to Mass for a Lottery win - when was ready to submit kept failing and all options did not resolve - Had to Manual File by State Return - Also when did tax it stated do you want to calculate the penalty or us for underpayment - As I got a bonus - and Stated I would do , but when went to file it stated we do not recommend that - then Why ask in the first place..

I encountered multiple bugs while using this year's version of H&R Block Deluxe, many of which made the program clumsy to use. ie. It would take multiple attempts to revise or access certain sections of the interview. The worst bug however is that my State of Vermont home ownership percentage was reported to the Vermont Department of Taxes as 1% when it was supposed to be 100%! After receiving a letter from the State of Vermont, I went back and confirmed the number entered as "100%" in my return. That is, this was not an entry error on my part and this number must have been changed internally by the software during transmission.
I have been using H&R Block software for years (TaxCut before that) and this is by far the worst experience I have had with any tax software.

I used H&R Block to complete mine and two friends' tax returns. Theirs were easy. Mine was complicated. I computed by itemizing and then again by using the standard deduction. I had all my backup paperwork ready and itemizing was best. I actually got a refund. The software helped at every stage and I was able to import last year's tax return to populate a lot of this year's return. Thanks - good job!! I'll use H&R Block again next year.

This version worked well for me in prior years, so it was a huge disappointment this year to encounter a fatal 1099 import error between my financial institution and the H&R Block servers... meaning I had to do a tedious 4+ hour manual input of over 100 transactions to get by. Even a month later after the filing deadline, and with this being "assigned a Case # and escalated to the highest level of Customer Support", it still appears unresolved. Would have been appropriate for HRB to at least offer a refund after this time-consuming issue was such a hassle this time!
