I have been Tax Cut/H&R Block software for many years. I was very happy with the software, until 2024 version. I felt many areas of helpful help Tax Cut/H&R Block software provided in the past were not there. In many areas, I had to look up or do further research for necessary information to proceed. I never felt this before 2024.
I hope this is not an indicator of what Tax Cut/H&R Block software will become.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought the software in February, I completed my taxes. When I went to file my taxes, I was notified that I would need to file my State return by mail. I wish I would have been notified sooner so I could prepare better for the filing. A notification that a mail in return is required should immediately be flagged to the user not at the very end when you're preparing to file your return.

I have used H&R Block since around 2007 and have never looked back. It's a tad pricey relatively speaking, but still a major bargain compared with hiring a preparer. The software is very user-friendly, and being able to import the previous year's data makes set-up a breeze for those of us repeat customers. The federal version is the tops; the state version (I am in PA) could use a little work but overall still a simple experience for most people I presume.
