I have used H&R Block tax preparation software for over 10 years. I was disappointed that this year there was not a "Federal only" option, as I live in a state without income tax filing requirements. I was also disappointed that my financial institution was not supported for direct import of investment data, which then required manual entry (the financial institution was previously supported for at least 8 years). Otherwise, the software was adequate for completing my tax preparation.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Hard to import documents

Cannot import detailed stock sales information from Fidelity.....I had to have Fidelity produce a custom report and send it to IRS myself, at my cost. not happy.

Verified Purchase:Yes
Federal was about the same as it has always been. You need to enter your deductions in the federal section for them to be used in your state return. I got a solar tax credit federally. But it COMPLETELY ignored that deduction in the state section. I had to spend hours to determine my state credit. I was lucky because I was able to dig up some white out to correct the HR printed return.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
