Predictable, effective software. Two questionable issues: Advice on Hobby Income is out of date (incorrect), and the Maryland computation of the Two-Income deduction does not work correctly under certain income circumstances.

Great Software. Gets Rough in the Penalty Section.

First off, I really like this software and have been using it since the TaxCut days. I do have one thought/suggestion due to the confusion and time I spent going to the Fed and State instructions to make sure I wasn't making a mistake.
Here is the confusion - I get to the Fed penalty section and the software tells me I have paid $61 too much to the Fed in estimated tax payments. But it also tells me I may have a penalty. I'm confused. I opt for the annualized method. It asks me if the amounts/dates withheld are correct when the fields are all blank, and whether I respond yes or no, it won't let me type in the correct values. (???)
I'm guessing the large RMD I took on the IRA account at the end of the year had something to do with this. The state return was kind of the same.
Here is the thought: There are a lot of baby boomers now with IRAs and RMDs that may cause a bump up of income towards the end of the year.
Here is the suggestion: At least give a heads up early on in the process to the possibility and then make the process smoother. I'm not sure why I had to go to the 2210 form and enter the adjusted gross income amounts instead of doing this in the mainline data entry process. Made it very confusing. Isn't there a better way to handle this?
